Workshop on 'Knowledge Organization and Library Modernization' conducted for LPU Distance Education Students
Department of Library and Information Science at Lovely professional University organized one day workshop on 'Knowledge Organization and Library Modernization' on 24th February 2017. The workshop witnessed enthusiastic participation from both corporate and academic sectors. Highlight of the workshop was the massive participation of hundreds of Distance Education students of the university belonging to the discipline of Library & Information Sciences. The resource person of the workshop was the renowned personality - UGC emeritus fellow, Prof M P Satija.
The objective of the workshop was to explore the cutting edge research and model changing transformations in the fundamental concepts of library and information science. During the five sessions, crucial areas of library science including tools and techniques of knowledge organization, ICT, LIBSYS and more were probed by Prof M P Satija, Dr. Shiv Singh and Mr. Kehar Singh to churn out the beneficial principles and solutions for the society.
Emphasizing the importance of the workshop, one of the Distance Education students Ms. Harjeet Kaur from Patiala said, “This workshop will help the participants to create the new knowledge and design innovative methods to address the challenges faced by the library professionals.”
Speaking on the occasion, Chancellor - Lovely Professional University, Mr. Ashok Mittal said, "We believe in giving equal opportunities to our Distance Learners. It is a pleasure to see such enthusiasm among our Distance Education students who have traveled from various parts of the state to attend this workshop. This motivates us further to conduct such activities."
The workshop ended with conferring of certificates of participation on all the participants.
