LPU Distance Education Students proved their mettle in 62nd National Shooting Championship

LPU Distance Education students Gurpreet Singh and Amanpreet Singh once again proved their mettle in shooting by winning three medals during 62nd National Shooting Championship recently held at Vattiyoorkkavu Shooting Range, Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala .

Employed with Indian Army, Gurpreet Singh, who is pursuing B.A. from Lovely Professional University through Distance Education mode, won Silver Medal in 25M Centre Fire Pistol event by competing with 162 top national level shooting sports-persons. Gurpreet Singh also won Team Bronze in 25M Rapid Fire Pistol event  by teaming up with Army-men Neeraj Kumar and Arun.

Amanpreet Singh, who is an ONGC employee and pursuing MBA from LPU DE, won Silver Medal in 10M Centre Fire Pistol Mixed event by teaming up with Shweta Singh of ONGC.

This National Championship was organized by the National Rifle Association of India (NRAI), as per rules and regulations under NRAI Match Book 2018.   

Illustratively, LPU provides scholarships to National and International level achievers in various field so that they can enhance their academic qualifications along with pursuing their passion. 

Lovely Professional University get World Education Summit Award for Innovation In Open & Distance Learning

Lovely Professional University has been honored with "13th World Education Summit 2018" Award in the category of 'Innovation in Open and Distance Learning' by Digital Learning magazine, during the recently held summit at Bombay Convention & Exhibition Centre (BCEC), Mumbai.

On behalf of LPU, the award was received by Additional Director, Ms. Ginni Nijhawan and Deputy Director, Mr. Manish Kumar from Dr. A Ashok, Secretary & Commissioner, Board of Intermediate Education, Government of Telangana and Dr. Ravi Gupta, Founder Publisher, CEO and Editor-in-Chief, Elets Technomedia Pvt. Ltd.

Expressing his views, Chancellor, Lovely Professional University, Mr. Ashok Mittal remarked, "Open and Distance Learning including Online Education is the future of education. At LPU, we are encouraging the students to adopt new learning methodologies to enhance their learning experience."

10-day long Personal Contact Programme for Distance Education Students held at LPU

A 10-day long Personal Contact Programme (PCP) for Distance Education students was recently concluded at Lovely Professional University campus. Thousands of students from various locations of Punjab attended the PCP classes and interacted with expert faculty of the university for their academic enrichment. Students were provided academic inputs based on the specially designed Instructional Plans prepared by the faculty to ensure coverage of all the key concepts of the syllabus. 

Based on the online registration of the students, university planned and conducted PCP classes in the disciplines of Management, Computer Applications, Information Technology, Commerce, Library & Information Sciences, Economics, Education, Mathematics, English, Hindi, Punjabi, Political Science, History and Sociology. Around 170 faculty members were engaged to conduct classes pertaining to 310 courses. Many of the out-stationed students resided in the university hostel during the PCP.

While sharing her experience, one of the students Ms. Devika belonging to PGDBM programme quoted "I am feeling very grateful that I  got the opportunity to attend PCP classes at university campus. I was finding it a little difficult to study a whole lot material from book but here I got the gist of key concepts for all of my 5 subjects which would help me to score good marks."  

Many of the Government Employees pursuing different programmes from LPU Distance Education, specially took off from their official engagements to get benefited from the PCP programme.
