Personal Contact Programme for Distance Education Students held at University Campus from 1.05.2015 to 12.05.2015

LPU organized Personal Contact Programme (PCP) for its Distance Education students at University campus from 1st May to 12th May 2015 in which students from places like Amritsar, Banga, Barnala, Jalandhar, Kurali, Ludhiana, Moga, Phagwara got the academic mentoring from the expert university faculty.

Students got the opportunity to interact with the faculty from disciplines like Management, Commerce, Computer Application, Mathematics, Library & Information Sciences and Hindi. Along with the conceptual understanding of the courses, students also got the chance to experience university life during PCP days.

Speaking about the Personal Contact Programme, LPU DE student Ms Rupali said, "This was a great opportunity for me to interact with experts of my field and study in such a good atmosphere". Another student Mr. Damanjot Singh remarked, "It is great opportunity for Distance education students to study in University Campus just like regular students. We are really thankful to the University for providing us such platform".

Thousands of LPU Distance Education Students conferred with Degrees during 4th Annual Convocation of LPU


Fourth Convocation of Lovely Professional University manifested the commencement of a new chapter of life for 30,878 international, regular and Distance Education students of batch pass years 2013 & 2014. 

LPU Convocation also turned out to be momentous for Mauritius and India when the Chief Guest, President of the Republic of Mauritius, Mr Rajkeswur Purryag was conferred upon honorary doctorate (Honoris Causa) degree of the University.  Mr Purryag was conferred honorary doctorate for his ardent working towards advancement of international peace, harmony and in recognition of his wisdom & services for global welfare & brotherhood. 

Shri Kaptan Singh Solanki, Governor Punjab & Haryana and Administrator of UT Chandigarh, presided over the Convocation. S Parkash Singh Badal, Chief Minister Punjab was the Guest of Honour. 

On the first day of convocation (20th April 2015), 7745 Distance Education students of batch pass year 2013 got their degrees and certificate.  31 Distance Education students were conferred with awards of academic honours owing to their distinguished academic performance. 

On the second day (21st April 2015), 8024 Distance Education students of batch pass year 2014 received their degrees and certificates. 28 students received awards of academic honours. 

 
President of Mauritius, Mr. Rajkeswur Purryag, advised LPU students to follow great values and teachings of great Rishi, Muni and Holy Scriptures, Ramayana & Mahabharta, to become great men & women.  Elaborating, he said, “Don’t become Ram but take 20 percent of his life and “Aap Aadmi se Insaan Ban Jaooge (You will change from normal to a good man)”. 

Seeing high-end usage of Information Technology at the university, President Purryag mentioned: “I am highly impressed by the way latest technology is being used at LPU and in India. This is appreciable as IT can really prove a great boon for higher education. Today, we have open and massive online courses to complement traditional ways of delivering education. Acquiring knowledge, skills and competencies are, therefore, no longer bound to time and space.”

LPU Convocation ceremony was telecast live world-wide for millions of people and for LPU students settled at distant places including USA, UK, Canada and more.
