More than 225 students from Raikot & Jagraon belonging to different streams of LPU Distance education programmes visited university campus and exhibited their literary skills in Extempore & Debate competitions. Students were given the topics on the spot to test their spontaneity and ingenuity. Students spoke on varied issues ranging from pollution, education, drug abuse, life, sports, role of media and more. Debate on Social Evils witnesses heated arguments from opposing teams.
With their distinguished performances, Ms. Virpal Kaur, Ms. Anjali and Mr. Sukhwinder Singh secured 1st, 2nd and 3rd positions respectively in Extempore. Raikot team comprising of Ms. Navneet Kaur, Mr. Param Singh and Ms. Tamanna outdid the others in debate.
In addition to participating in the literary events, the visiting Distance students also interacted with university officials in doubt clearing session. This unique venture of LPU Distance Education to provide its students a level playing field to visit university campus and to interact directly with university officials is attracting many of the distance mode students to have a first hand feel of university atmosphere. The students were also taken to the guided trip of the university campus.
Some International, National and University level sports persons in the fields of Kabbadi, Football and athletics were also part of the visiting Distance Education students which inlclude Mr. Satinder Singh, Mr. Lakhbir Singh, Mr. Mandeep Singh, Ms. Sarabjit Kaur and Mr. Gagandeep Singh. The students came to know about the opportunities for DE students to get their talents further groomed by university sports officials.
